Draft — to be finalised with legal review before launch.
Who we are
GTA6Intel (the website at gta6intel.com, our apps and our Discord bot) is a fan-made guide to Grand Theft Auto VI. It is run by [operator legal name, registered address], the controller of your personal data. Questions: [email protected].
We don’t sell personal data, show ads, or use advertising or analytics trackers.
What we collect and why
- Your account. Your email address, or the ID Apple, Google or Discord gives us when you sign in with them; your username and display name; and that you confirmed you’re 16 or over. We need these to run your account.
- Profile details you choose to add. A photo, bio, platform and gamer ID (only shown if you switch it on), and whether you appear on leaderboards.
- What you do on the site. Items you save, follow, vote on or mark as found, your story progress, Rep and notification settings. These power your account features.
- What you contribute. Edits, map pins, sightings, screenshots, videos, comments and reports. Once approved, contributions are public and shown with your username. We remove hidden data from photos, including location, before storing them.
- Launch alerts. If you sign up without an account, just your email address, to send the alerts you asked for.
- Discord. If you link Discord, your Discord ID, username and picture, so we can give you rank roles in our server.
- Your devices. For the apps: a push token, platform and app version, to send notifications you’ve turned on.
- Technical data. IP address, browser or device details and error reports, to keep the service secure, stop abuse and fix bugs.
Our legal bases under UK GDPR: providing the service you signed up for (contract); keeping it secure, preventing abuse and improving it (legitimate interests); and your consent for launch-alert emails and push notifications, which you can withdraw at any time.
Moderation and AI
Photos, bios and other uploads are checked automatically before others see them, and anything flagged goes to a human. We use Anthropic’s Claude to help check suggested edits and moderation reports. It only advises: people make the decisions. We send it the contribution, not your email address, and under Anthropic’s commercial terms it isn’t used to train their models.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that run GTA6Intel for us, under contracts that limit what they can do with it:
- Laravel Cloud: hosting and database
- Cloudflare: network, security, file and image storage, video and bot protection
- Sentry: error reports
- Anthropic: AI checks, as above
- Apple, Google and Discord: sign-in, and Apple and Google for push notifications
- Render: hosting for our Discord bot
- [Email provider]: sending sign-in codes and alerts
We may also share data if the law requires it, or to protect people from harm. Some providers process data outside the UK, mainly in the US; where they do, they use the UK’s approved safeguards, such as the International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Account and profile data: until you delete your account.
- Sign-in codes: they expire after 10 minutes and are deleted within a day.
- Launch-alert emails: until you unsubscribe, or 3 months after GTA VI’s release if you don’t have an account.
- Logs and error reports: up to 30 days. Database backups: up to 7 days.
Deleting your account
Delete your account in the app or at gta6intel.com/account/delete. Your profile, sign-in methods, saves, votes, Rep and devices are deleted. Comments and accepted edits stay so the guide still makes sense, but they’re shown as “a former member”. If you used Sign in with Apple, we revoke your Apple token. Backups clear within 7 days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct, delete or stop using it, or to send it to you in a portable format. Email [email protected]; we reply within a month. If you’re unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies and storage
We only use what the site needs to work, so there’s no cookie banner:
- a session cookie and a security token while you’re signed in
- a small “signed in” hint, so cached pages know to load your details
- Cloudflare security cookies that tell people apart from bots
- your store region and checklist ticks, kept in your browser’s storage on your device only
If we ever add analytics, we’ll ask first and update this page.
Age
GTA6Intel isn’t for under-16s, and you must be 16 or over to create an account. If you think someone younger has an account, tell us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll say so on the site, and by email if you have an account.
