GTA 6 finally has an official release date following its delay from Fall 2025, and Take-Two Interactive doesn’t think it’ll move once again.
May has been a major month for Grand Theft Auto 6 news, and publisher Take-Two isn’t done talking about the highly anticipated title just yet.
During its recent investor earnings call, the publisher revealed more details about GTA 6’s recent delay to May 26, 2026.
And now, a new interview with CEO Strauss Zelnick reveals exactly how the company is feeling about the title’s new release date.
Will GTA 6 Be Delayed Again?
Rockstar Games releases usually undergo at least one major delay before release, so it was no surprise to see that GTA 6 got pushed back to next year.
But will the game be delayed once more before we finally get our hands on it? Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick doesn’t believe so.
“I feel really good about how Fiscal 26 looks sitting here today,” the Take-Two Boss said, in a new interview with IGN. “And while of course, delays pain me — how could they not? — the most important thing to do is to support your teams in their search for perfection.”

Putting our fears to rest, Zelnick continued by pointing to Take-Two’s track record with major releases:
“I think historically when we set a specific date, generally speaking, we’ve been very good about reaching it.”
It’s certainly true that Rockstar releases in particular don’t tend to get delayed after an exact release date has been revealed. Instead, the games tend to get pushed back when they have a larger release window, such as ‘Fall 2025.’
But at the same time, it’s worth noting that Zelnick himself said he felt “really good” about the Fall release date, prior to GTA 6’s delay.
It sounds as though he’s hinting that no further delays are likely to take place, but it’s certain that he doesn’t want to confirm anything at this point in time.
The good news is that the Take-Two Boss confirms that Rockstar is seeking perfection, and is using the extra time to ensure GTA 6 launches with sufficient polish. And, in the meantime, at least we have a new trailer and around 70 new screenshots to analyze!
