GTA 6 is set in Vice City and the surrounding state of Leonida, and there are a number of reasons why it is the perfect location for the next Grand Theft Auto game!

The state of Leonida and its largest city, Vice City, is the location for Grand Theft Auto 6. Of course, like all cities in the series, it is fictional, but based on a real-life location.

For GTA 6, Rockstar has used the state of Florida and the city of Miami as inspiration. We can’t think of a better setting for the next installment of Grand Theft Auto!

From the crazy goings-on to the beautiful nature of the Sunshine State, here’s why it is perfect for GTA 6:

The Crazy News Stories of Florida

Anyone with a social media account has likely seen a ridiculous news story come from Florida at some point. Whether it’s a huge alligator, a hilarious case of road rage, or someone impersonating a supervillain, Florida has it all!

This is something that GTA 6 will certainly make the most of with its fictional version of Florida, Leonida.

GTA 6 Alligator in a Convenience Store

Rockstar Games already has a history of satire and parody within the GTA series, and the craziness of Florida will hopefully let the developer be more creative and even more hilarious with it in GTA 6.

The first trailer for GTA 6 already included plenty of references to real-life viral videos, such as the woman holding the hammers and an alligator entering a convenience store. The trailer even included a nod to the internet personality, the Florida Joker!

A Huge & Diverse Major City

Miami, which Vice City is based on, is one of the most diverse cities in the USA. This will make it a colorful and interesting city to explore in GTA 6.

The first trailer for GTA 6 has shown plenty of parts of Vice City, showing that Rockstar is incorporating plenty of Miami in its fictional version of the city.

Beachfront City GTA 6 Vice City

Of course, the main landmarks like South Beach and Ocean Drive will be in GTA 6, but the trailer also shows glimpses at smaller neighborhoods like the artistic Wynwood and Little Haiti.

Additionally, it looks like players will be able to take part in Vice City’s nightlife, as the trailer featured a nightclub. However, we’ll have to wait to see what other activities we can get up to in GTA 6!

Multiple Towns & Cities in Leonida

While Los Santos was a perfect setting for GTA 5, there wasn’t too much to the map beyond the city. The small rural towns of Sandy Shores and Grapeseed, as well as the medium-sized Paleto Bay in the north, were the only other significant populated areas.

However, it looks like GTA 6 will have multiple large-sized towns in addition to Vice City itself.

Fans have pieced together what the GTA 6 map looks like using leaks that have revealed additional locations. Port Gellhorn will be a smaller city to the west of Vice City, while there will be Gator Keys, based on the real-life Florida Keys in the south.

Bridges Between Islands GTA 6

There will almost certainly be smaller towns and maybe even an additional city or two within GTA 6’s Leonida too!

This will certainly add some variety to GTA 6 compared to GTA 5’s map. Plus, it’ll give players more reason to travel outside of the main city.

The Stunning Nature

Just like real-life Florida, the first trailer for GTA 6 shows that Leonida state is full of stunning nature.

Of course, there are the stunning beaches made of golden sand and the clear blue seas, but Leonida will have much more than that. Trailer 1 also shows vast swampland and plains full of flamingos and alligators based on the Everglades.

When players want to step away from the hustle and bustle of Vice City, it looks like there will be plenty to see and do in the nature surrounding GTA 6’s major locations.

This will be a huge improvement from Grand Theft Auto 5, which had limited wildlife. Hopefully, this will make Leonida feel much more real and alive than Los Santos.

Returning to the Iconic Vice City

Longtime fans of the GTA series will be especially excited to return to Vice City. It has been over 20 years since Grand Theft Auto: Vice City came out, and players will want to see how the city has been expanded and modernized for GTA 6.

Of course, the first trailer for GTA 6 has shown plenty of iconic parts of real-life Miami in Vice City, like South Beach and Ocean Drive, which players could previously visit in Rockstar’s 2002 GTA game.

GTA 6 Vice City Street Cars

However, we also hope to see a few nods to the classic Vice City in GTA 6. The trailer already showed an updated version of the Ocean View Hotel, Tommy Vercetti’s first safehouse, and we’d be surprised if there wasn’t a building like the Vercetti Estate or a reference to the Malibu Club too!

Unfortunately, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City takes place in a different timeline to GTA 6, meaning that Tommy Vercetti himself won’t turn up. However, there will almost certainly be plenty of nods to the 80s Vice City in GTA 6.
