GTA 6 pre-orders have already begun to arrive at select online retailers, but when will the game officially go live for early purchases?

Right now, all eyes are on Rockstar Games as fans eagerly await their next look at the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6.

Trailer 1 was such a massive hit that it broke the internet, but now months have passed with little in the way of news, and fans are getting hungry for more.

The good news is that those who want to can already lock in their GTA 6 pre-orders at one or two locations. But we’d advise waiting until the official pre-order launch before confirming your purchase.

GTA 6 Pre-Order Release Date

While there is no confirmed release date for the game as of yet, we expect pre-orders for GTA 6 to go live in 2025, around 4-6 months before the title’s launch.

Both PlayStation and Xbox will only allow pre-orders on their respective stores when an exact release date is announced.

However, a couple of retailers have jumped the gun somewhat, putting Grand Theft Auto 6 up for pre-order without a release date attached.

GTA 6 Pre-Orders at Gamivo

Key seller Gamivo has digital copies of GTA 6 up for pre-order, but it doesn’t state which platform the game is for.

  • G2A – No Longer Available

Reportedly, G2A also had Xbox codes up for grabs, at a staggering $140 price tag. However, these have since either run out of stock or ceased sales, now simply reporting a 2025 release date.

It’s worth mentioning that these listings likely do not contain accurate pricing information.

And while some suggest that GTA 6 could cost $100 outright, fans who place a pre-order might find themselves paying a different price on release day.

Why We Think 2025 Is a Likely Bet

GTA 6 currently has a 2025 release date, and while there is evidence to suggest that the game has been secretly delayed, it should still launch in that year.

Taking a look at Rockstar Games’ past pre-order style, it seems that the developer prefers to make pre-orders available shortly before launch. An example of this can be seen with its most recent releases.

GTA 6 Bikini Girl in Vice City Apartment

Pre-orders for Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games’ latest major release, went live on June 4, 2018.

At this point in time, Arthur Morgan’s adventures in the Old West had already seen three trailers release, the first of which dropped on October 20, 2016.

The open-world cowboy game would then be released four months later, in October 2018.

GTA 5 Was Set for a Similar Pre-Order Window

On the other hand, in the case of GTA 5’s first release, the game went up for pre-order on November 5, 2012, almost exactly a year after its reveal trailer dropped.

The title was soon delayed from its Spring 2013 release date, instead launching in September, but its intended release was again quite close to pre-orders going live.

GTA 5 Cop Arresting Woman in a Hat

It’s worth noting, however, that back then, there was a real concern of supply running out when it came to popular releases.

It’s easy to forget that there’s not always been a digital marketplace available to consumers, and pre-orders were, therefore, in far higher demand.

In the case of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition, a game published by Rockstar Games but not actually developed in-house, we saw pre-orders go live on October 22, 2021, just weeks before the game’s November 11, 2021 release date.

Ultimately, we’ll have to wait for more information regarding GTA 6’s pre-orders. But rest assured, as soon as the game is available to purchase, we’ll have everything you need to know right here.
