Join us as we recap every piece of official GTA 6 news as updates continue to arrive from Rockstar Games!

Whenever a new and exciting project is on the way, it can be hard to keep track of everything there is to know about it.

And in the case of Grand Theft Auto 6, it’s hard to differentiate official information from leaks and fan speculation.

That’s why we’ve put together a full timeline of all the official GTA 6 news, from the newest updates to its very first reveal:

All Updates in Timeline Order (Newest First)

GTA 6 PC Port Is Very Likely – May 30, 2024

Speaking at the TD Cowen 52nd Annual Technology, Media & Telecom Conference on May 30, 2024, Take-Two’s CEO was asked about the possibility of GTA 6 coming to PC.

Zelnick then gave a very interesting response, which sounds to us like a confirmation that the game will eventually arrive on the platform:

“I do believe that the right strategy for our business is to be where the consumer is, and historically what this company has done is address consumers anywhere they are, on any platform that makes sense, over time.”

In addition, the Take-Two CEO assures listeners that Rockstar’s approach to platforms has not changed and that the company will ‘make more announcements in due time.’

Take-Two Confident in Release Window – May 19, 2024

Shortly after announcing that GTA 6 would be releasing in Fall 2025, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was interviewed on CNBC.

There, the longtime Take-Two Boss stated that the team feels ‘highly confident’ in Rockstar’s new release date.

He also confirmed that the developer is seeking perfection in GTA 6, and aim to create ‘an experience that no one has seen before.’

GTA 6 Release Window Confirmed – May 16, 2024

After five long months of silence, we finally got more GTA 6 news during Take-Two Interactive’s Q4 2024 earnings call on May 16, 2024.

There, CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that GTA 6 will be released in Fall 2025, giving us a clear release window at last:

“As we enter Fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to deliver Net Bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion,” said the Take-Two boss. “Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI.”

We can now confirm that GTA 6 will release between September-November 2025.

And while this isn’t an official delay, it’s clear from the earnings call that the game was initially intended to release early in 2025 before being internally delayed.

GTA 6 Trailer 1 – December 4, 2023

The first trailer for GTA 6 arrived on December 4, 2023, and quickly shattered several YouTube records.

Despite the initial plans for a December 5 debut, Rockstar Games decided to drop the trailer early after a leaked low-quality version began circulating online.

The upload, which has been viewed over 185 million times, shows us our first look at protagonists Lucia and Jason, as well as the revamped Vice City.

Fans are hungry to see more of Rockstar Games’ upcoming title, but unfortunately the wait for Trailer 2 is set to be a long one…

Trailer 1 Release Date – December 1, 2023

On the first of the month, Rockstar revealed the official release date for GTA 6’s Trailer 1: December 5, 2023.

The internet exploded in excitement, and the image itself became a popular meme, with many games and brands teasing announcements in a similar format.

Of course, the trailer didn’t actually end up being dropped at the scheduled time, due to a leaker getting hold of the game’s first official footage.

First Trailer Announcement – November 8, 2023

On November 8, 2023, President of Rockstar Games Sam Houser shared the news that fans had been wanting to hear for years: the GTA 6 trailer would be releasing soon.

It was a painful wait from November to early December, but we finally got our trailer on December 4.

Development Confirmation – February 4, 2022

The very first time Rockstar Games ever acknowledged the existence of GTA 6 was all the way back in 2022.

In tweet posted on February 4, 2022, the developer finally confirmed what fans had been hoping to hear for almost a decade: GTA 6 development was underway.

Of course, it’s likely that the game was pretty close to finished, even at that point in time.

But this marked the start of Rockstar actually getting ready to talk about a new GTA release, and that was exciting in itself.

This concludes the list of all the GTA 6 updates ever dropped by Rockstar Games or parent company Take-Two Interactive. Stay tuned, as we’ll keep this list up to date as more news continues to drop!
