In a new interview, Troy Baker cleared up all of the rumors that he may be playing one of the main characters in GTA 6 – Jason.

Grand Theft Auto 6 appears to have two main characters. The female protagonist, Lucia, was at the center of GTA Trailer 1, while her partner in crime, supposedly the second protagonist, Jason, speaks just one word in the trailer.

His lack of dialogue and being a secondary character in the trailer didn’t stop rumors about Jason swirling around the GTA communities on the internet. In fact, a very prevalent rumor was that voice acting superstar Troy Baker would be playing the character.

GTA 6 Jason and Troy Baker

Even if the name doesn’t ring a bell, you’ll surely have played a game where Troy Baker voices a character. He has dozens of voice acting credits in games, including iconic roles like Joel from The Last of Us, Pagan Min from Far Cry 4 and Booker DeWitt from Bioshock: Infinite.

However, Baker himself has shut down rumors that he will be starring in GTA 6 as Jason.

Troy Baker Will Not Voice Jason in GTA 6

In an interview on YouTube with The Movie Dweeb, Troy Baker confirms that he isn’t voicing Jason in GTA 6.

When asked whether he is playing Jason, based on his voice sounding similar, Baker seemed in disbelief and said:

“He says one word! He says ‘trust’. That right there is a lesson in perception, People think and they just automatically assume. I want that guy, whoever it is, to credit for his work because I’m sure it’s going to be great.”

While this is disappointing for Troy Baker fans, whoever Rockstar has cast as Jason will surely do a great job.

This news is also not really a surprise, as Rockstar almost always opts for lesser-known actors for the largest roles.

Previous voice talent like Ned Luke (Michael de Santa), Steven Ogg (Trevor Phillips), Shawn Fonteno (Franklin Clinton), Rob Wiethoff (John Marston) and Roger Clark (Arthur Morgan) all had little or no video game voice acting credits when they started working on Rockstar titles.

We likely won’t find out who will be playing Jason for a while yet. Even though GTA 6 Trailer 2 will probably drop in late 2024, it still may not reveal the voice cast!
