A new Russian localization job listing at Rockstar Games has some fans certain that GTA 6 will release in early 2025, but what does it actually mean?

After presumably a decade of development, Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally ready to be shown off to the public. And with only one trailer out there to put on repeat, GTA fans are already hungry for their next glimpse of Rockstar Games’ groundbreaking new title.

Now, a new Quality Assurance role listing has the GTA 6 community speculating that the game will launch before March 2025.

GTA 6’s New Russian Localization Job

Eagle-eyed Grand Theft Auto fans have noticed that Rockstar Lincoln has a new Localization Tester role available to apply for, to help ensure that GTA 6 is fully playable in Russian.

The role, which is posted to Rockstar Games Lincoln’s LinkedIn page, states that the role will have candidates ‘perform localization QA to ensure final product quality is as high as possible.’

To be clear, this is not a translation role, though translating work may be necessary from time to time. This suggests that the Russian localization is actually complete, and that the employee simply needs to ensure it’s up to Rockstar’s high standards.

What’s notable is that the QA role is a fixed-term contract for twelve months. This suggests that the new hire would only be needed until around March 2025, which has some fans certain that the upcoming game will release in that period.

“They probably wouldn’t hire a language tester just for them to leave in March 2025 and have the game released late 2025, as the game would probably need more testing by then,” Reddit user TwistLT suggests.

Interestingly, that would line up with early speculation that GTA 6 would release in the Fiscal Year 2025, which comes to an end on March 31, 2025.

Why Fans Think the Game Will Release in Early 2025

This theory was based on Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive’s predictions of $8 billion in profits being expected in FY:25, which it announced during its May 2023 earnings call.

The company also stated that it would be delivering ‘several groundbreaking titles‘ during the Fiscal Year.

“We believe that we will enter our next phase of growth in Fiscal 2025, as we plan to deliver several groundbreaking titles that we anticipate will set new standards of quality and success and enable us to deliver over $8 billion in Net Bookings”

However, Take-Two has since tempered expectations somewhat, lowering its profit estimations to $7 billion. This caused some analysts to suggest that GTA 6 had been secretly delayed to later in 2025.

Will Localization Lead to Further GTA 6 Leaks?

It is unlikely that GTA 6 will receive further leaks from Quality Assurance testers due to Rockstar Games opting for in-house localization that takes place on-site.

Instead of outsourcing the job to another company, the developer is hiring trusted testers on a contract basis.

Each new recruit will have to sign an extensive NDA, and it’s clear that Rockstar employees are made to take this very seriously.

In fact, besides the massive GTA 6 leak in 2022, we’ve seen little in the way of early information surfacing online. The one notable leak we did have came from a hacker finding their way into the Rockstar Games Slack channel, and the individual responsible has since been arrested.

Whether or not this Russian localization job points at GTA 6 being released in early 2025 or not, we can’t say for sure. But one thing’s for certain: the release date is creeping closer and closer by the day!
