GTA 6 could have a new reveal in May 2024, as fans discover that Rockstar Games has a pattern of releasing news shortly before its quarterly earnings calls.

It’s been over four months since the release of Grand Theft Auto 6’s first trailer, and to say that fans are growing restless would be an understatement.

The GTA community is slowly beginning to lose its mind, picking apart the same trailer frame by frame, and speculating about the game to come.

However, it might not be long until we hear more from Rockstar Games, and here’s why May could have some big GTA 6 news to offer:

Why May Is the Month to Watch

The reason May 2024 could be when the next big GTA 6 news drops is that it’s the month of Take-Two Interactive’s next earnings call.

For those unaware, Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, hosts a quarterly earnings call, which shows investors how successful the publisher has been in the last few months. It also looks to the future, revealing what profits it expects in the next Fiscal Year and beyond.

Fans have noticed that Rockstar has a history of dropping new information right before earnings calls. And given that Take-Two Interactive’s next investor call takes place on May 16, 2024, we might be getting closer to more GTA 6 news.

For those curious, here’s how to tune into Take-Two’s next quarterly earnings report.

And here are a few examples of past announcements made just before the next quarterly earnings call went live:

GTA 6 Development Announcement

February 4, 2022, is a day that won’t soon be forgotten, given that it was the first actual confirmation from Rockstar Games that active development on a new Grand Theft Auto title was underway.

The announcement was met with a tremendous amount of hype, even though it told us something that most fans already expected, and revealed no actual information about the game.

But what’s notable about February 4 is that it was right before Take-Two’s earnings call on February 7, 2022.

And if the day before the investor call hadn’t been a Sunday, we expect that the announcement would have been made even closer to the quarterly report.

GTA 6 Trailer Reveal

On November 8, 2023, just a matter of hours before Take-Two’s Q2 2024 earnings call, the official Rockstar Games X/Twitter account posted the news that fans had been waiting a decade for.

This tweet, announcing that GTA 6 would get its first trailer the following month, has been viewed over 193 million times and boasts an incredible 1.5 million likes.

It was likely no coincidence that Take-Two’s earnings call took place just eight and a half hours later.

After all, the prepared statement by CEO Strauss Zelnick already congratulates Rockstar Games regarding its reveal.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Delay

But it’s not always good news that comes ahead of these conference calls.

On May 22, 2017, Rockstar Games revealed via a new blog post that Red Dead Redemption 2 would be released in Spring 2018, a significant delay from its initial Fall 2017 launch date.

The following day, May 23, was the day that Take-Two’s Q4 2017 earnings call took place.

Although the quarterly report is no longer available to view on the publisher’s website, we imagine that the delay announcement needed to come prior to the latest financial predictions.

After all, a massive game like Red Dead Redemption 2 suddenly not being on that year’s release slate surely affected profit margins in a major way.

If GTA 6 is indeed getting its rumored delay, May could be the month we hear about it officially. However, right now, it appears that the game is still on track for a 2025 release – just perhaps not as early in the year as some fans would like!
