If you’re eagerly awaiting the next installment in Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto franchise, here’s everything you need to know:

Is GTA 6 Out Yet?

No, GTA 6 is not out yet.

The upcoming game has a confirmed release date of Fall 2025, which places the game’s launch between September and November 2025.

This release window was confirmed during Take-Two’s earnings call on May 16, 2024, in which CEO Strauss Zelnick announced a significant reduction to the company’s estimated net bookings for Fiscal Year 2025.

“As we enter Fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to deliver Net Bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion,” said CEO Strauss Zelnick. “Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI.”

This indicates that Rockstar initially believed it would launch GTA 6 before April 1, 2025, which would fall under FY:25. Instead, it appears that the game has been delayed internally, now launching later that same year.

GTA 6’s release date will likely be in October, as this is Rockstar Games’ most common launch month. However, we’ll have to wait for an official reveal to find out more.

Will It Be Delayed?

As previously mentioned, evidence suggests that GTA 6 has already been internally delayed from its intended release date.

However, there is no indication that the game is going to be officially delayed from its Fall 2025 release window.

In fact, Strauss Zelnick stated in an interview with CNBC that he is ‘highly confident’ in Rockstar’s ability to deliver the game on time.

What’s more, the CEO appeared to suggest that most of the work still to be done on GTA 6 is eliminating bugs, which is a good sign considering the company has over a year left until release day.

That said, Rockstar Games is known for delays. In fact, the vast majority of Rockstar Games releases are delayed by at least four months, with Red Dead Redemption 2 being pushed back by approximately one year!

As for whether GTA 6 will suffer a similar fate, only time will tell.
