The development of GTA 6 is finally nearing an end, and all of the Rockstar Games employees are returning to the office to work on the title.

The development of Grand Theft Auto 6 has been long and extremely expensive. In fact, Rockstar Games has been working on the title for around 10 years now, and the estimated budget is a record-breaking $2 billion!

Finally, the decade of hard work will be coming to an end very soon for developers at Rockstar, but not before one last push to finish the game!

GTA 6 Development to Ramp Up in April

A new report by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg states that Rockstar Games has entered “the final stages of development” for GTA 6.

According to Schreier, all Rockstar Games employees must return to working five days per week in the office from April. This was reportedly revealed in an email to staff from Rockstar Head of Publishing, Jenn Kolbe.

Previously, Rockstar developers could choose to work remotely. However, this will not be the case for the final stretch of GTA 6 development.

The reason behind having Rockstar Games employees work from the office, instead of remotely is twofold.

Firstly, it will make the final part of development and polishing the game easier. If everyone is in the office, it will allow for easier communication between individual developers and teams at Rockstar, increasing productivity.

Secondly, having everyone working from the office full-time makes it a lot easier to control and limit ant potential leaks.

Previously, huge GTA 6 leaks stemmed from developers having access to an early build of the game at home. Therefore, it is sensible for Rockstar to keep all of the development in-house to prevent any more major leaks in the lead-up to its release.

What Does This Mean for the Release Date?

It’s too early to tell what this means for the release date of Grand Theft Auto 6, but we still believe that it will launch near the end of 2025. This follows rumors that Rockstar Games has internally delayed the title.

Despite this, many fans believe this news means that GTA 6 will come out near the beginning of 2025. While we admire the optimism, it’s best not to get your hopes up, as Rockstar has a history of delays.

There’s still even a possibility that GTA 6 could be pushed back to 2026!
