The Mourning Dove is a common type of bird that can be found throughout Leonida.
Known colloquially as the turtle dove, this species is one of the most abundant birds in North America. It is known to occupy a wide variety of habitats, including urban areas, farms, grasslands, and lightly wooded areas.
However, it is unlikely to find a Mourning Dove nesting in swamps or thick forest.
In Florida, the state on which Leonida is based, Mourning Doves are commonly found on backyard bird feeders, or scavenging for food on the ground in populated areas. They are also a popular game bird in the state.
