American Alligators are confirmed to appear in GTA 6, and the large reptile species makes several appearances in the game's first trailer.
In Trailer 1, we can see a POACH employee recovering an Alligator from a Leonida resident's pool. Later in the trailer, we see an American Alligator wandering into a gas station convenience store.
This second instance is thought to be a reference to a real-life prank which involved a Florida man walking into a store carrying a live Alligator under his arm.
While uncommon, American Alligators have also been known to find their way into swimming pools in the states too. Perhaps this hint in Trailer 1 suggests that GTA 6 players should check their pool water before diving in!
A dead Alligator also appears in the official Rockstar Games screenshots, where it has seemingly been killed by a group of hunters in the Grassrivers.
In a second screenshot, a large number of alligators are shown in the back of a poacher's truck, as they flee from Leonida law enforcement.
American Alligators can reach up to 15.1 ft in length, and can weigh up to 1,100 pounds.
These apex predators are usually found inhabiting wetlands, marshes, and swamps, making the Grassrivers the perfect place to spot them. They are known to modify their environments by constructing 'Alligator Holes' which retain water and become an oasis during the dry season.
The seal of the State of Leonida (based on the real seal of the State of Florida) features an Alligator attacking a man.
