Somehow, today already marks the 6 month anniversary of Rockstar Games’ announcement that the first GTA 6 trailer would go live on December 5.

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been half a year since we got our Trailer 1 release date.

On December 1, 2023, Rockstar posted the following teaser to its social media:

Even after all this time, we’re no closer to learning when Trailer 2 will arrive, and Rockstar has been keeping details about Grand Theft Auto 6 to a minimum.

However, that’s not to say that we haven’t learned anything about the game over the last half-year.

Here’s everything you might have missed if you tuned out after watching GTA 6’s reveal:

The Official Trailer Release

Despite Rockstar’s teaser stating that GTA 6 Trailer 1 would release on December 5, 2023, the video was actually dropped the day prior, December 4.

This was due to a low-quality leak of the Grand Theft Auto trailer surfacing online.

Rockstar Games clearly wanted most people’s first look at GTA 6 to be as exciting as possible, so the developer made Trailer 1 available early despite its scheduled release time.

Since then, GTA 6 Trailer 1 has broken all manner of YouTube records and has already been viewed more than 193 million times.

We’re certain that it’ll go down in history as one of the most memorable trailers in gaming history.

Release Window Announcement

Five months later, on May 16, 2024, Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, hosted its Q4 2024 earnings call.

Speaking to investors, CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed a Fall 2025 release date for GTA 6, dashing the hopes of those fans who expected the game to drop early in the year.

It seems as though Rockstar might initially have wanted to release GTA 6 before April 2025, prior to an alleged internal delay, though this is not confirmed.

At least now, we can say with confidence that the game is set to drop between September and November 2025.

Rockstar Games Seeks Perfection

Just days after announcing that GTA 6 would release in Fall 2025, Strauss Zelnick returned with an interview on CNBC.

There, the Take-Two CEO stated that the team is ‘highly confident’ in Rockstar’s ability to deliver the game on time. Right now, the team appears to be in the process of eliminating bugs, ensuring that the latest Grand Theft Auto is ready for launch.

Zelnick also reports that the developer is seeking perfection in GTA 6, and aiming to create ‘an experience that no one has seen before.’

GTA 6 PC Release Tease

At the time of this article’s writing, GTA 6 is not officially confirmed to come to PC. Instead, the game will only arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S when Fall 2025 rolls around.

However, fans are certain that the game will come to PC eventually. After all, Rockstar Games tend to drop first on consoles before arriving on PC the following year.

During a recent TD Cowen conference, Strauss Zelnick even appears to confirm that GTA 6 will come to PC, though not in those exact words:

“I do believe that the right strategy for our business is to be where the consumer is, and historically what this company has done is address consumers anywhere they are, on any platform that makes sense, over time.”

Promising that Rockstar’s approach to platforms has not changed, Zelnick teases that the company will ‘make more announcements in due time.’

For your sake, PC fans, we hope you aren’t kept waiting for too long.
